Obituary for Alice Arlene Bauer

Alice Arlene Bauer (Simons) began her life’s journey on June 8, 1934 and concluded it peacefully on July 4, 2019 surrounded by her family. As the youngest of nine children, growing up in a small town in Kansas, she was well loved by her parents, looked after by her 5 sisters, and protected by her 3 brothers. As a teen, she loved to hang out with her friends and have a good time. One of those good times lead to her meeting Albert George Bauer. After an exciting courtship, they were married on May 1, 1954. Al was an airman in the US Air Force, which led to many moves around the country, including Indiana, Arizona, Maine, and even Puerto Rico. Through all the upheavals and moves, Alice became a mother to 5 amazing children: Albert Simon (Linda), Belinda Joyce (Sam), Alice Annette, Bryon Scott (Jacque), and Timothy Mark (Maxine). They finally settled down in Phoenix, Arizona in 1971 and had their 6th child, Ty Anthony (Stacie). Her children provided her with 14 grandchildren and then they brought about 5 great-grandchildren. These additions to the family brought Alice great happiness and pride. She showed her love through over-indulging them all at Christmas and always having their favorite foods and delicacies waiting for their visits. After spending many years as a stay at home mom, Alice decided to enter the work force.
She was employed by Motorola, until her retirement in 2005. She didn’t spend her retirement idly, however, she took on the task of helping bus drivers in the Peoria School District for another 10 years. With all the moves, children’s swim meets and countless family meals, Alice had spent 54 wonderful years with her adoring husband up until his passing in 2009. They enjoyed cooking together, traveling and having all their kids and grandkids around them. Alice spent her last years bringing happiness to others with her famous Snicker cookies, playing bridge with good friends and traveling to see her children, her family and her in-laws. Alice was a faithful member of St. Helen’s Catholic Church for over thirty years. Alice loved her little dog Max and spoiled him with treats and belly rubs. Alice’s bright smile and warm heart will be missed by all who loved her. Although her passing leaves a hole in their world, they are comforted knowing she was welcomed into Heaven by her husband, her son Bryon, and her loving family members who passed before her. Rest peacefully, Sister, Mom, Grandma, Gigi.
